 The characters that take place in this story are: 

• Santiago Nasar: The young protagonist. 
• Angela Vicario: The young woman whose honor is the cause of Santiago's death. 
• Pedro and Pablo Vicario: Angela's brothers, who kill Santiago to avenge their sister's honor. 
• Bayardo San Román: The man who marries Ángela, but rejects her when he discovers that she was not a virgin, which triggers the conflict, 
• Narrator: An unidentified character who returns to the town years later to investigate the events and reconstruct the story.
